Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born at Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an editor and writer and editor, as was Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is a self-described Jewish has a connection to Ryder's Jewish father. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County in California when she was seven years old. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was no TV. Ryder was 12 when she took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. Lucas was let go in 1986, and Ryder who was barely 15 years old, landed a role as a leading actor. Ryder suffered bullying in the high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress would help. Sadly that didn't happen. Still, she kept chasing the dreams she had. Her biggest break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in a variety of films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her role as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
