Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. A few beat a path through Colorado due to Denver's famous anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. For many, Denver is the symbol of Colorado. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other side of the world or someone of New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk groups was Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential the moment he heard it for the first time. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days afterward.
